Maria is Permanent Lecturer at the University of Salamanca since the 1994-95 academic year. She began her professional activity in the Archivo General de Indias. Before to her teaching activity, she has also worked at the Carlos III University Library in Madrid and the European Parliament Documentation Service in Luxembourg. She launched the Library of the Institute of Iberoamerica from the University of Salamanca (USAL).

Graduated in Geography and History and Graduated in Information Science, in 2000, she got her doctorate with a thesis on The Information Systems of International Organizations. Her research interests include:

– Information and Documentation Policies, Open Science and Innovation

Documentary Analysis and Repository management with XML;

– Information Society and Information Policies;

– Bibliographic Heritage and Digital Humanities are her research objects.
